Q: What is a geothermal heat pump? A: A geothermal or “ground-source” heat pump is an electrically-powered device that uses the natural heat storage ability of the earth and/or the earth’s groundwater to heat and cool your home or business. We built our home in 2008 and TEC installed the geo system. It has worked flawlessly and we are very happy. Call us today to see how we can help with your geothermal heating and cooling needs.

"I moved into a 4,600 square foot house in 2006. This was the biggest place I'd ever lived in. It's pretty nice, catherdral foyer and family room, lots of room for a growing family. After my first year of level billing with natural gas, I decided to lower my thermostat 2 degrees to get the bill down down in the coming year. And I did, I used 20% less therms (3,500 to 3,000) but when I got my next level billing amount, it went up 30%. How could my bill go up when my usage went down? (this represented a 50% swing). I had been researching alternatve energies. After working with Selma Lower, I decided to replace the natural gas and air conditioning unit with a WaterFurnace geothermal Envision unit. Not only has my electricity usage gone down in the summer months by 30%, my natural gas bill went from $385 per month to $8...that's right, $8. I only use gas for the clothes dryer and cooking. The hot water is supplemented (desuperheater) by a brand new electric water heater. Not only do I sing the praises of Geo energy to everyone I know, but my Waterfurnace geothermal system works great. And now, instead of dreading the gas bill every month, I look forward to it to see how low can I go (and my electric bill too). And I get a little laugh every time...."

Anita T.

"Along with the low operating cost, we also like the comfort levels of new geothermal Envision unit. Our previous home was gas heating and we always seemed to have cold and hot spots. Our new house, heated and cooled by geothermal is more evenly heated and cooled because of the design that Total Energy Concepts provided."

In Portland Oregon and Southwest Washington, more heat is generally extracted from the ground loop than is rejected into the ground during the year. The heat supplied to the pool below, we cool the house by extracting the heat from the house and transfering it into the ground or the pool.

Love the machine--it's working well and it's much quieter than our old geothermal unit! Very pleased, so I thank you and your company very much. The service guys were great and did a fine job. A little bit about the unit.. The Tranquility® 22 Digital is a game-changing new geothermal heat pump that is the first in the industry to integrate digital communicating controls, vFlow internal variable-speed water flow, two-stage capacity, and variable-speed fan. The system is engineered for quiet, efficient operation and comes in multiple capacities. The eco-friendly Tranquility® 22 Digital already meets ENERGY STAR® Tier 3 efficiency levels, so it will qualify for the uncapped 30% federal geothermal heat pump tax credit in 2012 and beyond

Snohomish Geothermal

Another geothermal project in Snohomish County Washington. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, Geothermal ground source heat pump systems are one of the most energy efficient, environmentally clean, and cost-effective space conditioning systems available. About 70 percent of the energy used by a geothermal heat pump system comes in the form of renewable energy from the ground. Geothermal heat pumps, as well as all other types of heat pumps, have efficiencies rated according to their coefficient of performance or COP. It's a scientific way of determining how much energy the system produces versus how much it uses. Most geothermal heat pump systems have COPs of 3-4.5, except for the Series 7 which has a 5.3 COP efficiency

North Bend Radiant

Can anyone resist the sensation of walking barefoot on a heated floor? With radiant hydronic heated floors with a geothermal heat pump, you have the best of both worlds. Nice warm floors and low operating costs. Not only does radiant floor heating keep your toes warm, but it ensures that the rest of your body will be kept at a comfortable temperature as well. Waves of infrared radiation rising from the floor warm up the building mass, insuring that heat isn’t lost to surrounding surfaces.

Ed M.

"We did the absolute right thing by going with WaterFurnace and TEC. It costs much less than heating and cooling with gas or oil. And it's the most environmentally friendly system there is, which is a big concern to us. We don't like burning fossil fuels so it was the only sensible choice. When we were building our home, we knew it would be our retirement home, so we wanted the most economical and environmentally responsible system available. I had read an article about geothermal and started doing more research on it. WaterFurnace has the most reputable brand on the market. The air is always warm, and the air conditioning feels naturally cool. It's definitely worth the investment. I especially love the fact that the system doesn't require upkeep, just clean your filters. No expensive servicing of the furnace every year and no worry about harmful fumes or emissions. We're the poster children for geothermal technology. We love it!"

Rene W.

"Hello Selma: Just a note to say thank you for all you and your crew did for me on the installation of my WaterFurnace geothermal system. The upgrades to the duct system made all the difference in the world. My electric bill is low and the system is reliable and quiet. And it's really nice not having that electric furnace. I tell everyone about my geothermal system and tell them to call you to have a geothermal system installed. You are very knowledgeable and truthful. Thanks again!"

Ralph and Sue S

"I must tell you of all the things we put into our house in 1998, there are two things that are outstanding. First, I wanted to use blown-in insulation in our walls. The second thing, and by far the most outstanding thing about our new home, is the WaterFurnace geothermal system. This is our third home and it is the most comfortable heating system we have ever had. If we were to ever build a new home again, I can guarantee you that it would have a WaterFurnace system and blown in cellulose insulation installed by Total Energy Concepts. Thanks to you and your crew John."

Scott S.

"Just a note to say that we are extremely pleased with the heating & cooling system in our home. It has proven to be all you said-- John. It is economical, trouble-free and comfortable. We feel it was well worth the investment. It has been one of the best improvements we have done for this 150 year old home! Thanks again."

Shirley C.

"We could not believe how comfortable we were in those extremely cold and hot summer months. The swimming pool heats great as well. Our friends and family can't believe how nice our home heating system works with all the vaulted ceilings and split levels! Our electric bills are just as low as the estimate said it would be. We are extremely pleased with the system that you installed for us."

Bob P

"With a brand new all electric home that's twice the size of my previous home, I figured I'd pay well over $100 a month for electricity. I was wrong. I'm averaging less than $100 per month. The WaterFurnace system delivers better comfort and free hot water. It doesn't have the big temperature swings that natural gas furnaces have. It's a much better system and has saved me a lot of money."

Ed & Sherri G.

"The WaterFurnace geothermal heat pump is everything that we were told. We are heating and cooling a house that's twice the size of our other house with less money. At our old house, the combined electric and natural gas budget bill was around $130-$140 a month. Our electric budget at this house is currently $155 a month. TEC did a wonderful job integrating the Geo system with an heat recovery ventilation unit that supplies our house with fresh air. We just love our system."

Jeff H

"In the winter of 2008 during the snow storm our system just keep humming along, never engaging the backup heat. We were able to heat our house of over 2,400 square feet for less than a friend of our who only heated 1,200 square feet with a heat pump. Their heat pump froze over and operated on backup strips most of the time. Our electric bill was about half of hers for twice the square feet."

Deanna D

"John thank you for installing the WaterFurnace system in my home back in 1994. My home has never been so comfortable either heating or cooling. I know the cellulose insulation helped as well. Thanks again for a complete package."

Greg K.

"I'd like to report that our WaterFurnace geothermal water to water system is doing well. The January heat bill was half of the bill a year ago when we were heating with the oil broiler. We now have 100% of our domestic water with the geo unit as well. Now that's progress. Great system Total Energy Concepts."

Larry & Lois C.

"Because of our lower heating & cooling bills, we expect to break even on the system in five years. It's clean and quiet, and we have even heat throughout the house. Bottom line--a geothermal system is more efficient in the long run. It's the most important investment in our home."

Keith S.

"I incorporated geothermal into our home because it is the least expense way to heat, cool and provide hot water. With TEC's 20 years of exclusively installing ground source heat pumps, they have the experience and knowledge that makes the system perform like no other. Our system provides the best comfort and it definitely saves money. It's dependable and reliable. I've had no problems with our system. TEC also sprayed all the walls with cellulose insulation to reduce our heating and cooling loads. By combining cellulose and geothermal it's unbelievable how low the bills are. The energy bills are even lower than I anticipated, and the comfort in the winter and summer is much greater than expected. "

Elmer F.

"I spent two years researching what I wanted in my house and looked into geothermal closely. I liked what I saw. The unit is in the garage and I don't hear it at all. The house is nice and warm in the winter and cool in the summer! I like the free hot water as well."

John & Sarah G

"Our family is exceptionally satisfied with our geothermal unit. No matter what room we're in, our house has the same consistent temperature because of the redesign that TEC suggested. The electronic air cleaner is another health benefit for our family, as well as the quiet operation. Thanks TEC!"

Laura H.

"I just love my system. John Lower from TEC was the most professional sales person ever. He made the sale and the install very enjoyable. Thanks John"

Bill A.

"Since installing my WaterFurnace AT geothermal system 19 years ago, we have enjoyed the reliablelity, comfort and low heating and cooling cost. Total Energy Concepts, said that the only maintenance would be cleaning the filters every three months and they are so right. John we love our system! If we build again we would definitely install a geothermal system, heat pump, again with Total Energy Concepts because of their knowledge and expertise."

Dick U.

"We chose a WaterFurnace system because it's a top-of-the-line system. We're very happy with it. The air is always clean and fresh. And the best thing is it's worry free. I can set the thermostat on 70 and no matter if it's 20 degrees outside or 110 in the shade, I don't have to mess with this system at all. And it doesn't cost us an arm and a leg to heat and cool."

Dan and Ann S.

"Hey John. We thought that we would drop you a note saying thank you for installing our system in Ohio! It works great. We are looking out our window with the snow on the ground and our system is just humming along. Oh, yes the kids are skating on the pond where the loop is installed. Thanks again. Dan and Ann"

S King

"Along with the low operating cost, we like the comfort levels. Our previous home had gas heating and we always seemed to have cold and hot spots. Our new house is more evenly heated and cooled with a much lower utility bill."

Gary C.

"It's been all it was advertised to be. I've kept meticulous records and the average monthly utility bill has been $175 (for a 5,000 sq. ft home). That includes heating, air conditioning, hot water, lights and appliances. I've looked at other manufacturers and in the end, found they did not have the package WaterFurnace does. I'm a big fan of WaterFurnace and Total Energy Concepts."

Joe and Lisa A.

"We were attracted to the Synergy 3D because of it's capability to heat water for our radiant floor and heat and cool air for the rest of the our house. We love the warm floors in the basement. We estimated that we would recoup our investment over a period of time and we  liked the fact that the unit is indoors and very quiet."

Martha H

"I would not hesitate to recommend the geothermal system. I especially like the fact that on the beach we will not have to replace an out door unit - ever. The system was placed in the basement and has been purring flawlessly since 2004. I had another geothermal system installed in another house that we built in Tigard and had a local company install that. I would not recommend that local company. Their bid was lower at the begining but after all the change orders it was a lot more then Total Energy Concepts bid. WOW did we make a mistake. Total Energy Concepts is the company that I would use again and again. "

Paul G.

"I wish to offer my comment upon the exceptionally quiet operation of the WaterFurnace geothermal heating/cooling system. Its heating and cooling performance has been excellent, while its extremely low noise operation is most notable as well. Thanks John! Great crew as well."

Rob H.

"John I am still amazed at how well our systems works. Geothermal is by far the most efficient and cost-effective for this environment and I am glad that we installed the system with your company. They system is very low maintenance. That's really what I was interested in — something that was maintenance free and cost effective."

Eric W

We installed ground source heat pumps in our commercial building, http://www.theheritagebuilding.com/. We are so pleased with the performance of Total Energy Concepts and the WaterFurnace E-Series units.

Jim B

"The WaterFurnace AT unit that TEC installed in 1993 is still operating efficiently. We just love our system!"

Sarah Dell and Bhagwatty P.

John thank you for installing our WaterFurnace geothermal system in our new ICF home. The system has been operating since 1995 with no maintenance. We do clean the filters every three months. The fish are not even aware that their water is being used to heat and cool our home. Thanks again.
